This article will answer these questions and more. So, what are you waiting for? Get out your Ouija board and get ready for some fun! The Ouija board has been around for centuries, but the modern version of today’s alphabet dates back to the 1800s. The oldest documentable board was found in 1853. Since its inception in ancient Egypt or Greece, there have been a number of theories about how the Ouija board works and what people should do if they encounter any negative forces while using it.
In this post, we’ll be discussing how and why you should actually use an Ouija board as well as some precautions and steps to take when dealing with any spirits that may want to communicate with you. The Ouija board is an excellent tool for helping your intuition develop. As a side effect, it’s also great for building up your imagination and visualization skills too.
How do I use the board?
First, let’s take a look at how to actually use the Ouija board. From this point forward, we will be referencing the modern form of the Ouija board with an alphabet printed on either side of it. The planchette is used to spell words. It is often round and white made from plastic or wood. Sometimes you’ll find them to be triangle-shaped or even heart-shaped! Planchettes are often referred to as “Ouija” but are also known as a “planchette.
Giving permission to communicate with spirits. Each person who talks with the spirits must verbally agree that the others are welcome to speak and that they are willing to leave at any time. The Ouija board should be set up either in a room where no one is sleeping or a room that everyone agrees could potentially be haunted (like a basement). No one will be alone when speaking with the spirits. Never play Ouija alone. At least two people must be present for any spirit communication, and no more than four people should speak with the board at once. There must always be at least one sober individual present for each session.
Planchette placement. The planchettes are placed in the center of the board so that they can spin freely around it. The planchette is never moved with our hands. It is done by spirit force. That being said, you only want the planchette to move when it wants to move.
To begin a session, ask the spirits to participate in the séance.
How do I know if a spirit is present? By now you’re probably wondering how you can tell if a spirit is talking to you or if it’s just your friends messing around (which has happened before). If the planchette stops going in circles, and it starts spelling out words (or a name), this is a good indication that there is a spirit present.
If you don’t see anything, try asking the planchette questions as if you were talking to another person. My favorites are: “Have you been here long?” “Why are you here?” “Who are you?” “Do you have a message for me?” “Do you want to go home?” “Where are you from?” “What time is it?” “Are you really a ghost?” “Are you a boy/girl or a man/woman?” “How old are you? “What is your name?” Or if you have some very specific questions: “How do I get rid of [problem] in [house/neighborhood]?”
2) Make up your own questions.
They don’t have to be friendly–you can tell the planchette who you hate, what you want to do with them, or demand answers. If you don’t like the answers you get, get rid of the board, or try it again. If it’s still not working for you–forget it. It’s not worth your time.
(Note: if you can’t seem to talk to the board, try asking it a question as if it were another person. I used to ask it “Are you alive?” “Why are you here?” and then it would spell out the answer.)
- It is easier to communicate with the board if you are in a room, sitting comfortably.
- If at any time during a session your Ouija board stops working, feel free to ask why.
